English:
You place a red ball inside of the box, and a black ball on top. When you drape a curtain around the box, and count, "One, two, three..." The black and red balls instantly change places! This effect uses colored balls to present the classic stage magic effect, "Metamorphosis." Through a new mechanical development, you can make the balls change places instantly, simply by lifting the curtain.

Development story:
One technique for creating a masterpiece is to convert a stage illusion into a close-up magic effect. The reason for this is that many people have already seen that stage illusion on television, so there is built-in interest for the effect, even if the actual props are different. MINI-MORPHOSIS is a miniature version of the well-known "Metamorphosis" illusion, a trick that many creators have been challenged with. This method from Angelo Carbone of England caught the interest of Tenyo's staff, since its image and presentation were so similar to the stage illusion.
Tenyo first had contact with Angelo in 1997. At that time, we had heard about a brilliant magic inventor who lived in England. It turned out that Angelo was a collector of Tenyo products, and had already created numerous tricks that he felt could become Tenyo products. We began communicating with each other, and he later sent us a performance video of his original tricks. The Tenyo staff was so impressed by the contents of this videotape that we made a special trip to England prior to the FISM magic convention held in Dresden, Germany. We visited Angelo's home in London, and selected several tricks from among the dozens of marvelous ideas he showed us, which we considered as potential product ideas. Angelo entrusted us with his hand-made models, which we took back with us to Japan. Needless to say, MINI-MORPHOSIS was in that group of models.

Trivia:
During the presentation of its latest products at the Tokyo Toy Fair in 1998, the version of Mini-Morphosis contained a floral curtain. This accessory was finally change on the final retail version and replaced by brown curtain without flowers. A photo is available here on the site Tenyoworld.
